China SAFE: Adjusting Tsy Holdings Normal; No Nuclear Option

BEIJING (MNI) - Regular adjustments to China's holdings of U.S. Treasuries are normal, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange said Wednesday, calling on the U.S. government to further consider the interests of its investors in managing fiscal and monetary policy.

The foreign exchange manager also said in the latest of a series of question-and-answer statements that it will not use the "nuclear option" of dumping its Treasury holdings.

China PBOC Offl Hints At Possible Fiscal Response To Slowdown

BEIJING (MNI) - A senior official within the People's Bank of China hinted Wednesday that the government could respond to the slowing domestic economy with additional fiscal stimulus.

China Stats Office Head Warns On Growing Economic Uncertainty

BEIJING (MNI) - The Chinese government's chief statistician warned Wednesday that conditions in the domestic economy are growing increasingly uncertain and complex as a result of problems with the global economic recovery.

Ma Jiantang, the director of the National Bureau of Statistics, said in a statement that the economy is at a "key stage" of recovery and headed in an "expected direction," echoing comments by Premier Wen Jiabao last week.
