MEXICO CITY (MNI) - President Felipe Calderon will present Mexico's 2011 budget to Congress Wednesday which will open the next chapter in the debate that has turned into a tug-of-war between the political party in power and the main opposition party jockeying to win the presidency in the 2012 national election.

Pemex Refinery Blast Cuts Output to 200,000 bpd vs 215,000

MEXICO CITY (MNI) - The explosion that ripped through a refinery of in the northern state of Nuevo Leon Tuesday morning, killing one worker, has forced closure of two of the 32 plants in the refinery, temporarily limiting output to 200,000 barrels per day from the usual 200,000 bpd, state oil company Pemex said in a statement.

The company said it is investigating the cause of a leak in one of the plants that caused the explosion.

MEXICO CITY (MNI) - An explosion ripped through a refinery of in the northern state of Nuevo Leon Tuesday morning, killing one worker and injuring 10, two of them seriously, state oil company Pemex said in a statement.

The company said the fire caused by the explosion has been completely extinguished, but the press office would not comment on whether output at the refinery would be affected by the incident.

Brazil Futures Markets React to Strong GDP growth

SAO PAULO (MNI) - Brazil's economy blew past expectations in the second quarter, growing 1.2% compared to the first (almost 5% annualized), while forecasters had expected Friday's release to be between 0.3 and 1.0%.

Fixed-income futures in Sao Paulo reacted, with long-term contracts up 3 to 6 basis points.
